It was a day not to be forgotten at Stormont on Saturday 28th May, as over 25000 orangemen, women and band members took to the streets of Belfast to mark 100 years of Northern Ireland.

The Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland organised Centennial Parade attracted an estimated 100000 spectators onto the streets along a 4.5 mile route that began from the seat of government at Stormont and culminated in front of City Hall.

Members of Newtownards District joined our fellow brethren and sisters from across the country on parade as the sun shone down throughout the three hour procession.

The thanks of our District go to all of those who helped to organise the event and to our neighbours in Bangor and Upper Ards District who assisted us with transport.

Here’s a look at some of the participants.
