Holywood was packed with Orangemen and women, band members and spectators this Twelfth as the Districts of Newtownards, Bangor and Upper Ards joined our hosts to mark the 329th anniversary of the Battle of the Boyne.
From early morning the local streets were filled with music and colour as Orange Order members made their way from Orange Halls and Worshipful Masters’ houses, converging on local assembly points to start the day.
The main parade in Holywood began at noon and made its way through crowded streets to the field at Spafield, where everyone could enjoy some lunch, relaxation and the traditional speeches, before setting off again.
The parading continued into the early evening, with our District returning to Newtownards for the usual culmination of the day in Conway Square.
